I found myself in this situation:

Bidding had been:

1 - 2 - X - 4
Pa Pa Pa

I received a trump lead (which I expected, sort of) and won in my hand, played Q covered and ruffed at the table, heart ruff, J covered and ruffed at the table, heart ruff (J from West), T on which a diamond is thrown from the table and club ruff (clubs were 4-4). I played the last trump and found West was 4-4 in the black suits and thought I was going down 1 (all this time I had thought East held hearts hence his double, which I thought showed penalty in one of my partner's suit). Anyway, I now led a diamond to my Ace and the last club (you never know when the opponents will give you a freebie...), West ruffed and played the Q, which I covered on the table...winning the trick! The double of 2 showed diamonds!

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

Why did you start pulling trumps?! You have 1 club trick, 1 diamond trick, so just go for 8 trump tricks on a cross ruff.
