Scoring: MP

Bidding goes as follows:

1D P 3D X (agree?)
P 3H 5D ?

3D was a limit raise. They have no forcing minor suit raise if it makes a difference.

What say you now? Pass is not forcing here in case anyone wonders. Please note the form of scoring (matchpoints) and you can expect the field to not have the same auction as you.

The only reason to bid 3 when you can bid 5 on your own, is to try for 3NT. Would you go for 3NT with a void?
If there is no void in then I guess my hand should make A and AK leading to 5-1.
Do we make 5 We might not have loser in or , but there are 3-4 loser in and 1-2 in . Partner made the weakest bid possible, so I doubt that he can cover enough loser so that we make 5. If he has tricks in the will bring 5 down another trick as well.

If dbl is penalty, then dbl otherwise I'll just pass.

Any information on RHO, or random?
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I don't know, it doesn't seem likely that we can make 5H but it might. And 5D might just make. I think I also double, unpleasant.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I think at red vs white, the odds are that RHO is making an anticipatory save, or at least gambling somewhat. I would double, if partner pulls we may make and if he passes it may go down. Or it might not...

I would have doubled first round as well.

This round I double again. I do not think partner is likely to pull - he just bid 3H last time. No assurances it will go down, but seems like the odds on call to me.

Thanks for all the replies. 5D and 5H were both down 1, so double was the winner. I tried 5H :P

Partner held 5 hearts to the 10 and not much else, losing 2 spades and a club. In fairness though, +100 wouldn't have won a huge number of matchpoints either, since most pairs were scoring +620. -200 was a complete zero unfortunately.

I think I would have tried 5 honestly. Wouldn't have worked this time, but maybe partner has a spade less, or a club less, or even the jack of clubs could have been enough to make. Or maybe an opponent would have a singleton club and 5 would have been making. Oh well.

Tough decision at MP, I might easily have chosen 5.

At IMPs 5 is obvious, IMO.
Kind regards,
