Scoring: IMP

3 Pass Pass 3NT
Pass Pass 4 Dbl
Pass ?

1. Agree with first pass?
2. Agree with second pass?
3. Now what?

EDIT changed 1156 to 1165 hope it makes no difference.

1. yes.
2. no.
3. pass, +500 is too tempting, plus who says that 5 in a minor is cold?

Let me add a question:
If partner passes over 4S iso DBL, is it forcing?
- If pass would have been forcing then I pass now.
- If pass would not have been forcing then I think that I also pass, but much less confident. (some days I will bid 4NT).

Pass after 4S would certainly be non forcing.

1. Agree with first pass.
2. Disagree with second pass in principle, but if there are no agreements in place then who knows what to do?
3. Impossible to answer without knowing if we have agreed whether we are in a forcing pass situation after 3NT. It makes a gigantic difference to the meaning of partner's double.

To all the 4NT bidders: Do you think this is choice of minors, or do you think this is natural?

both ;)

I think that I should have made a try with 4 one round earlier.
So 4 NT now should be natural, because I had a chance to show the twosuiter before AND it could be natural anyways.
Kind Regards

Artificial.

If I have a desire to play 4NT, I can X.

I know, there are hands out there, with which one wants
to play 4NT and not 4Sx, but that is life

1. liveable
2. no. would bid 4 and trust pard to sort it out (I think 4NT would show a balanced hand around 14 hcp)
3. 4NT now. pretty obvious for the minors.

No agreements in place, but why should this pass be forcing in the first place? Who knows why partner bid 3NT?

I feel like we have this discussion quite often...

In any case if pass is not forcing then partner's double shows a very good hand, and I pull to 5NT.

yes

no. too good a chance for a minor suit slam. bid 4 and P should work it out.

having decided (wrongly, IMO) in the previous round of bidding that I wasn't good enough for a slam try, about all I can do now is bid 4NT. To me this is just natural and competitive, showing some cards. If I wanted to show shape, I should have done it the round before.

also, once p bids 3NT, we are in a forcing pass situation. B)

Me too, but having a simple decision if pass is forcing or not is not a simple thing... Does anyone have a limited set of rules?

I believe 4NT shows a hand like:

I would not make the second pass, for 5 minor may be the best, even 6.

So partner's double only makes sense if...if.... his pass would be forcing :) So I'm glad my misunderstanding seems to have gotten me to slam.
