♠AKxxx ♥void ♦JT9xxxx ♣x
(1NT) - P - (2♣) - ?
What's your plan?

The problem with bidding 2♦ is that I don't have a rebid after 3NT.
I think I'd just decide that the opponents have hearts. So, 2♠ for me.

Even though its MPs, getting a diamond lead only feels really wrong if diamonds are 7-2-2-2 around the table and pard has Kx. Since I've decided that I'm going to be doing a lot of bidding here, I'm not that worried about the lead problem.
Anyone play something to show a two-suiter here?

Why does a massive heart fit mean spades don't work out for you? (Hint: a 9-card heart fit is possible without responder having 5 of them.)
Why do you want to bid over 3N? If they don't have a heart fit, I surely don't want to compete to the 4-level.
I would bid 2♦. On a lucky day I get raised.

My partner does not know how to intervene with a good hand?
Is it really the best minimum even if my partner opened and opps kept silence?
Still 40 HCP and 13 cards in each suit?

Yes your partner knows to pass with a good (and balanced) hand.

Yes a 7-5 is a good minimum.

Hmm, let me amend pls:)
I dislike to operate in a fog of uncertainty with that "AKxxx ♥void ♦JT9xxxx ♣x"deal.
IMO pass is fine; b/c such holdings wld wait "call of duty". For now my crystall ball tells me "do not test depth of water with yr feet".
15-17 in my LHO- say 8 in my RHO, uh oh..seems i only have chance to find 9 at my partner. So when they are minimum and we are maximum 23-17 life is hard for everybody
I scare to find a misfit and become a sandbag in a long day. Moreover i do not want to hear something like "hey p, did u check yr pass cards there?"

Why noone even mentioned 3/4♦ ?
Basically with this hand i dount want to play spades(if partner doesn't have 4 spades
2♠ +lead direct+ better chances to be raised + makes more difficult to reach 3N
4♦ seems that they will simply double and get +300,but i dount think it is so obvious in practise. Btw most of you suggested 2♦+3♠+ and then they will be in much better situation to chose.
