Scoring: Total Points

bidding
-- p p 1NT
2 2NT p 3
p 3NT p ?

2 - Spades and a minor 5-5 or better
2NT - Lebensohl
3 - forced
3NT - ??

Hi

So a couple of questions here about the bidding seqence here.

1. After the lebensohl sequence my partners 3NT shows values for NT game but what stoppers is he showing - I am presuming he is only showing a spade stopper (slow shows)?

2. With the hand above I wonder if I should bid again as the diamonds look very fragile?

I have the full hand and if required I will post it after replies - for discussion on whether partner is correct in his choice of bids

Thanks in advance

There are two versions:
a) 3NT via 2NT shows a spade stopper
b) 3NT via 2NT denies a spade stopper

It's not possible to check for minor suit stoppers using this convention.

With the actual hand I would pass. LHO might have clubs, he might lead a spade, partner may have help in diamonds. Besides, you have nowhere to go.

1. slow shows is common but without discussion I would not play it. After all, do you really think, that without discussion 1 NT (2) 3 NT denies Spade stopper?

And if you agree that 2 NT/3 NT shows stopper, it certainly shows stopper for the known suit(s), so just for spades here. If they had defined both suits, it had shown stopper for both suits.

2. This is an easy pass. Maybe pd has Jxx in Diamonds, maybe their second suit is clubs, maybe they don't lead them, maybe the suit is blocked.
Kind Regards

Roland
