As of this moment, I am in the clear majority with 4 out of 7 votes. I am a little surprised though that no one has chosen c. Where are all the centrists?

I overcall all day long. This is a decent suit and a good opener. I have never subscribed to the theory to overcall and whatever trash you want at the 1 level but to wear suspenders and a belt to keep your pants up at the 2 level.

I can be talked into passing this Red vs White at IMPs and note that since 2x isn't game if it makes, the opps may go head hunting. But in practice my most regular PD and I when playing together would overcall this even then.

I would bid. Pard is likely to hold a few hearts and short spades and will probably bid 2 if he gets the chance to balance. That leaves me in a somewhat complicated situation, so I prefer to bid my suit before that. 2.

I havde 5 to the AK and I don't like the unbid major. This seems like a wtp overcall to me.

Besides, what am I going to bid after

1 P 2 X P

which seems like it should be a common auction. Do I bid 3? 3? 3NT? 4? 5? 6?

I wouldn't, but I know good players for whom it would be absolutely clear to overcall.

Don't keep us in suspense, Winston, do you think it's worth an overcall?

This is for brave souls only vulnerable. While I would like to tip partner off to a best lead, lets say in some number of NT, dangers outweights the gains I believe. It is different if in balancing seat, or if they raise spades.

I agree with the poll choices, red IMPs. I'm happy to balance over 2pp.

This is not a hand I would overcall. I would not be pleased if my partner were to bid with this hand either. If this is OUR hand there is time to discover, and if it is THEIR hand or some misfit, lord help us.

I bid, I can't explain except it just feels right. I feel much safer with a singleton and a sidesuit than I do if 3352. Probably the opponents are just going to hearts anyway, and if partner bids hearts at least we have multiple possible landing places.
