We, the undersigned....
-Believe that competing in the Bridge World Championships, Bemuda Bowl, and the Olympiad is important and a good thing for the United States, and appreciate the role of the USBF in allowing us to compete for such titles.
-That the members of the Venice Cup winning USA1 team took an action which violated both the letter and the spirit of the Code of Conduct which they signed.
-That the USBF should and must take action to make it clear that such actions are not approved of by the USBF, and that such actions must not occur in the future.
-That we understand that, in order to perform the above, some level of disciplinary action may be required. We therefore approve of the disciplinary hearing to be performed later this month.
-That this was not an action of malice by the Venice Cup USA1 team, and that a quick and relatively painless resolution to this issue would be best for all parties. We have the utmost faith that the USBF will keep this mind when discipline is meted out.
