This was a cute hand played by my wife. She has about 30 ACBL Masterpoints, mind you.

She did not open 2D or 3D, because she felt that the vulnerability was poor. Whatever, that was her choice.

I opened 1H (opponents silent throughout). She responded 1NT, and I rebid 2C, for whatever that is worth. She bid 2D, and I invited with a 2S call. When she bid 3D, I grew anxious and bid 3NT. Sick auction, but that was it.

A fourth-best club lead was won by her 10 (way to go Sweetsie) and she knocked out the diamond Ace at trick two (Whew!). Ace and another club came back (strange, but critical, as this rectified the count).

As you can see, on the run of diamonds, when she ends up with AKJ of hearts in dummy, and the stiff spade King, East is squeezed. If East throws a spade to end up with A-Qxx, East can be endplayed after the heart Ace is won. Throwing the spade Ace is hopeless. So, East actually came down to Qx of hearts and Ax of spades, a neat counter. However, my wife was up to it and dropped the Queen.

Not all that elaborate, but a neat hand for a "Club Master" nonetheless.

I guess if you hadn't bid that terribly she would never have the chance to shine like this

I remember when Westra won a prize for best played hand in a 5% 6♥ or so. He also thanked his partner in this way.

I have to admit that some of my partners' greatest plays are induced by some of my most "creative" bidding. I'd say that my poor bidding has created some of the best declarers out there! LOL
