You are dealer, white vs red at IMPs, with _ - KQxx - xx - KQJT9xx, and the bidding has gone :

1 - (P) - 1 - (1)
2 - (3) - 3NT - (4)
?

Do you agree with your bids so far ?

Now, do you :
- bid 5 ?
- pass and remove your partner's X to 5 ?
- pass and pass your partner's X ?
- other ?

Comments are of course welcome.

I agree 100 % with all my bids so far.

My answer to this depends solely on my opps. If they are sane, I'm going to bid 5C. I have no defense and no spades, and they are red/white so I don't think theyre joking around, they will have extreme shape. A double game swing is possible. 5C will be cheap (or a make) and pard will often X them when it's wrong if I pass.

Against less sane opps, these inferences are less valid. I would probably pass against weak opps and just assume they are going nuts and pard might be ready for them.

I agree with all bids so far (mine, anyway) and I pull to 5 now. For me, passing and pulling shows more slam interest than I have: void AKxx xx KQJ109xx would be a minimum for pass and pull, given that partner has (probably) wasted values.

hmm that seems like a strong 2C rebid.

i honestly don't understand pass/pull here... why do i pass, to see if partner x's them? i don't really want that, do i? i have little defense, so i'll bid 5 to say that

We are not in a forcing pass situation.

Pard may have been serious with 3N, or he might be joshing around. Either way, 5 looks OK.

There's not much reason to wait until you pull pard's double here. Just bid 5.

We are in a forcing pass unless partner psyched. Isn't this the case in EVERY forcing pass?

"Pard may have been serious with 3N, or he might be joshing around."

I love foolish bids, but isn't this a strange place to fool around?

FWIW, I agree with the bidding and I would bid 5C.

Sometimes 4NT still makable but not 5C. This one seems not of that kind.

5C.

Over 3NT I would have bid 4C,
since Partner cant expect this
hand, so I see no reason to
change my mind, I just rebid clubs
on a higher level.
